What do you do?
I am a Property Sales Executive with Ray White Wynnum/Manly.
What is your background?
When I finished school I was eager to explore the world. I moved to Japan where I lived for just over a year. I then moved to Scotland where I spent 6 years. It was here that I studied Dentistry and worked as a Dental Nurse.
I have always had a great interest in Property. My father was a builder and my mum a real estate agent. I would always end up in this industry in some way or another.
Edinburgh inspired me with its beautiful Victorian and Gothic architecture, so it came as no surprise that this is where I purchased my first property. It was 100 years old and was a 1 bedroom flat. I had big plans for my first project. I would turn this 1 bedroom 1 bathroom flat into a modern 2 bedroom 2 bathroom home and from there I continued to buy another and started to grow my property portfolio.
During these 6 years I also traveled throughout Europe, I met incredible people and fellow travelers that inspired me to learn and make the most of this life.
I moved back to Brisbane for approx 1 year before an amazing opportunity arised. This time it was Indonesia where I stayed for 12 months.
I came back to Brisbane where I hung up my dentistry coat, and took on my new role of Property Sales Consultant, a role that I have loved since I began. I love houses and mixed with my love of design and architecture I am in awe of the properties that I help sell for my clients.
Tell us a little about what you are working on right now:
Right now I have just completed an appraisal for a gorgeous property in a beautiful street in Wynnum. I have a number of properties on the go at the moment, which is very exciting. July and August are great months for buying/selling property and we are seeing the results of those.
I am also working on my own renovation project, and I am enjoying every minute of it.
What is the most challenging thing about this project?
It’s not so much challenging, but more a question of what characteristics does this new property have that makes it stand out from the rest and how am I best to market this. This property I recently obtained has a lot of character. This should be a great property to put to market and I am very excited about it.
As for my own renovation project.. Yes it’s challenging but very rewarding.
What is your favourite part of your job?
I love meeting new people and I genuinely love helping my clients successfully sell their properties so they can move on to whatever the next chapter is for them.
What is your biggest accomplishment?
Marrying my husband Aaron. He is such an amazing support to me. Every girl needs an Aaron.
Do you have any advice for women wanting to enter this industry?
This is a great industry to work in. It offers great work/life balance, allowing for those with families. Be prepared to put the hard yards in though. You need to build up your client base and maintain contact with them to enable you to grow in your area.
Who inspires you the most?
People that face impossible challenges daily and yet maintain a positive attitude and an appreciation for life inspire me.
What motivates you to keep going?
I am surrounded by an amazing group of family and friends that offer support and encourage me to be the best person I can be. I also enjoy life and in order to keep up with my many adventures, particularly in the water or traveling, I need to keep working to pay for it!
According to you, what is the definition of success?
Success to me is happiness. If you feel you are truly happy with everything you have done and achieved then you truly succeeded in life.
What is your opinion on eco-friendly brands?
This is a great question for me. I am a huge animal lover, and with spending so much time on the water, I have amazing respect for the marine life. It breaks my heart to see turtles, seals, whales, sharks and other sea life trapped in fishing nets, plastic bags, etc. We really need to start respecting the planet and all living creatures on it.
Best beauty advice/tip:
Aside from drinking plenty of water and getting a good night’s rest. Moisturise, Moisturise, Moisturise. I spend a lot of time in the water so replenishing my skin with a quality organic moisturiser is a must. I love Briese Botanicals Creme Moisture Infusion. It’s a beautiful product.
