Everyone loves to pamper themselves once in a while, and face masks are an increasingly popular way of showing your skin a bit of love. But, store bought face masks are often expensive, and many of them are packed full of chemicals which can be problematic for sensitive skin.
Matcha green tea is usually only thought of as a drink, but you can reap the benefits of this super powder by applying it to your skin, too. Matcha is an anti-bacterial and contains extremely high levels of epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which is known for its abilities to reduce inflammation and promote an even skin tone. There are also plenty of antioxidants found in matcha which can reduce acne and increase skin elasticity.
This all-natural face mask recipe only has two ingredients so it couldn’t be easier to make at home, and it will leave your skin feeling fresh, bright and silky smooth.
- 1 teaspoon matcha
- 1 tablespoon Greek yogurt
- Mix the two ingredients together thoroughly until they form a bright green paste.
- Apply an even layer to the face and neck and leave it to work its magic for ten minutes.
- Wash the mask off to reveal bright and refreshed skin.
You can add matcha to a variety of face mask recipes. Many people love to combine the powder with either honey, coconut oil or argan oil. If your skin is dry we’d recommend that you choose an oil-based mask, and if you suffer from acne you’ll benefit most from the honey recipe. If you have combination skin which is both oily and dry, Greek yogurt is going to work best for you.
Make sure you buy high-quality matcha to ensure that you get all of the amazing health benefits. We recommend Aussie brand Zen Green Tea who source their premium matcha powder directly from sustainable farms in Japan, which ensures their matcha is of the highest possible quality.
